Sophie Lamb QC is a partner in the London office of Latham & Watkins. Ms. Lamb is in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame, described as “one of the pre-eminent arbitration lawyers of her generation”, she is a recognised leader in the field of investment and commercial arbitration and an accomplished advocate. Ms. Lamb is routinely engaged in the most complex, high value and/or significant investment treaty disputes of the moment and has an extensive track-record successfully representing investors and sovereigns States. She has acted in more than 100 international arbitrations under the auspicies of the world’s leading arbitral institutions, often involving more than US$1 billion in assets across a range of industry sectors including automotive, banking and financial services, energy and natural resources, insurance, pharmaceuticals, private equity, and telecommunications. Ms. Lamb has counselled clients in numerous investment disputes involving investment agreements, production sharing or concession agreements, double taxation treaties and domestic anti-avoidance laws, stabilisation clauses, national investment laws and mining codes, bilateral investment treaties and multilateral treaties including the NAFTA and the Energy Charter Treaty. She has also been counsel and sat as arbitrator in inter-State arbitrations, including those concerning access to essential resources or energy supply or transit issues. Ms. Lamb is a member of the UK Policy Committee of the ICC, the world’s largest business and trade organization. She has also served as global co-chair of the International Arbitration practice and on the firm’s strategic client committee.
