Tanya is an attorney-at-law with over 15 years in private practice in the Island of Barbados. Her practice is mainly in the civil law arena where she engages in both contentious and non-contentious matters and alternative dispute resolution. She developed a keen interest in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrator (CIArb) and is an accredited mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR). She currently serves on the CIArb Barbados Chapter Executive Committee and is an approved CIArb tutor. Tanya is also a rostered as a court–annexed mediator with the Supreme Court of Barbados. In 2020, Tanya was appointed Secretary General of the Arbitration and Mediation Court of the Caribbean (AMCC). The AMCC is a not-for-profit organization, established to offer alternative methods of dispute resolution to assist in the swift, cost-effective resolution of commercial disputes, in Barbados and the wider Caribbean. In addition, the AMCC assists in building capacity and awareness about ADR in the region. Finally, Tanya also serves in a number of other capacities such as the current Chair of the Disciplinary Committee of the Barbados Boxing Association and on the panel of the International Institute of Constructions Arbitrators (IICArb).
